Getting back “to normal”.
Note: Written while I was onboard probably around June when we had not started to cruise yet.
18th of March 2020 is the date I flew home as the world was getting ready for shut down. Who would have thought that cruise ships would be completely out of service? In fact, who would have thought the world would be out of service for so long. The world is still trying to get back on their feet, and so are cruise ships, so after 1 year and almost 3 months I am back. Many of us are back, and slowly but surely all of us will be back.
I got an offer to come back around April, it was good news but at the same time I was sad as I was about to leave my family again, but it was time for me to go back to part of my life.
Things are different, a lot of paperwork and permits to be able to fly and join a ship, but there are no complains as it is for everyone’s safe return to service, and we must do what is best for all.
I arrived at Cyprus on the 30th of May, 2021. It was great because as I arrived at the airport I met 2 great friends from ships, and as always with ship friends it was like time had not passed.
We went to the Hotel and from that moment is was 3 days quarantine at the hotel plus a PCR test. After a negative PCR test on June 2nd we were taken to the ship. There we had to show all our documents, flu vaccine, Covid vaccine if done at home, a negative PCR test done at home and then you could board the ship and be put on a 14-day quarantine.
The same day thanks to the company, all crew members that could no be vaccinated at home were vaccinated, I was one of them and I am grateful.
So, here I am onboard this beautiful ship waiting to have our first cruise and do what we do best, bringing smiles and great experiences to our guests. I guess that is my way of trying to make the world a little better.
More updates will come, but for now this is where I am at.
